All or Nothing

What if you could use a camera to record everything that happens in a period of time, and then automatically compress the most interesting bits into a single photograph?

Combining my passion for photography, computers and programming I set myself the challenge of answering this question, building a system capable of combining hundreds, or even thousands, of individual exposures into a single image.

The ‘All or Nothing’ system is written in the C++ programming language and run on 16 core server.

The ability to present the passage of time in a single photograph offered interesting possibilities and the flexibility offered by writing my own code allowed me to quickly experiment with different algorithms for combining images. The results I achieved were often unexpected and unpredictable. This was genuinely exciting and drove me to continue working on the project.
